About Us
Hi, I'm Marian Hoy. The first book you see on the Home Page and in Stories by Marian, Sissy the Alligator, is one of many children's books I'm working on. I wrote Sissy the Alligator over 15 years ago for my daughter, Jessica. She was about 2 years old then, and loved stories.
From the time she was born, I'd read to her each night before she went to sleep. Also, many times during the day, I'd read to "Jessie". Sometimes when I cleaned or cooked and couldn't read from a book, I simply made up stories to tell her while I worked. She loved the stories I made up just as much as the written word, so at the end of the day, I jotted them down on paper.
Sissy the Alligator, as well as the others, explores discovery of a solution to an issue. Sissy has a problem and with the help of a friend, she solves the problem. Many times, I used my stories to show Jessie resolutions to her problems. For example, one day Jessie came home crying from playing with a neighbor child. The children wouldn't let Jessie play with them. So we talked and within an hour I had a story about a little girl who was left out when playing with other children, and what she did in that situation. A story was such a teaching tool for me. It also makes learning fun.
I'd like to share the books I wrote for Jessie with other children. I believe that books, which I wrote as well as those written by others, helped mold Jessie into the capable and extraordinarily bright young woman she is today.
I hope that these books, as well as any other good literature, will assist other children to grow into healthy young adults who are bright seekers of knowledge, positive contributors to the community, and industrious students and workers.
It can happen for your children! READ to them!
